Joanna Gaines

You are my goal.

Sitting here eating my morning eggs, and I have my most favorite magazine staring back at me, Magnolia Journal. You know you’re getting older when your taste in magazines have changed from US Weekly, to journalistic home magazines. I’m ok with that.

She’s really got it all together, you know? From that long flowing dark hair, tiny frame even though she’s baking baby number five, and to top it all off, she’s built an empire. I wish I was her. I want my empire. I want every ounce of creative inspiration I’ve ever experienced to finally come out in some form. She’s so lucky. It happened for her.

But did it? Just happen?

You’ve read her story, I tell myself. You know she started from almost insignificant little baby steps and then worked her tail off to get here, right where she wanted, her empire. What have you done? Me? I made some darn good eggs this morning. Butter really does make everything better. But I’m so busy. So is she. I have kids and life is hectic. So does she. I don’t have the financial means to build my empire. Neither did she. She just did it. Are you going to do it, or talk about doing it?

Alright Joanna Gaines, quit yelling at me from that magazine cover. I heard your motivational pep talk loud and clear. Gonna pop these dishes in the sink and go write, because Joanna Gaines, you are my goal.
