Brown Sugar Marinara

Light and refreshing, but not lacking in flavor! This brown sugar marinara has everything you need to compliment your pasta dish. All of the usual cast members of a great marinara.. Garlic, tomatoes, bell pepper.. with a little bit of heat and a touch of sweet. It's the sauce that leaves your mouth wanting MORE.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Onion Diced
  • 5 Garlic cloves Minced
  • 3 Cans Diced tomatoes 14.5 oz, undrained
  • 3 tsp Chicken boullion paste Better Than Bouillon
  • 3/4 tsp Chili pepper flakes
  • 6 tbsp Brown sugar
  • Fresh Basil, chopped 8-10 leaves
  • 1 Green bell pepper Diced

Instructions

  1. In a large soup pot, add oil and onion and cook on a medium heat until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add bell pepper, cook 5 minutes.

  3. Add garlic, cook 1 minute.

  4. Add diced tomatoes, chicken bouillon paste, chili flakes and brown sugar.

  5. Using a handheld small emersion blender, blend sauce until about half of mixture is smooth. You'll want about half of the sauce to remain chunky.

  6. Add fresh basil.

  7. Cover with a lid and simmer on a low heat for 20 minutes.

  8. Serve over or mixed in with your favorite pasta.

Recipe Notes

Our favorite way to serve this sauce is mixed in to angel hair pasta! Top with extra fresh basil and freshly grated parmesan.
