Blessed

Comfort.

I think it’s fairly safe to say that each day, we all want to be comfortable. We chase after money, things we can buy, a status to attain to for appearance sake, in attempt to find comfort. The more “stuff” we have, the more money we make, the easier life is the better, right?

And when things aren’t comfortable? The jobs that are lost, money is tight, seems like anything that can go wrong does, our health is suffering, we find ourselves questioning why?

While we are striving for comfort, wanting things easy and seamless, God is wanting something else entirely.

God doesn’t call us to be comfortable.

He calls us to be courageous. He calls us to trust even when it feels like the hardest thing to do. He calls us to have faith, when it seems there’s no hope in sight. He calls us to love others, even our enemies, no matter what. To love how he loves, otherwise, what’s the point? He calls us step OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE. It’s when we are out of our comfort zone, that’s when he’s working on us most. It’s hard to remember. On days when all is great in the world, it’s taken for granted. And day’s where it’s just plain hard, sometimes you just need to hear God say.. but I don’t want you to be comfortable. I love you enough to want MORE for you.

When I stop and think about what Jesus went through, he was a poor carpenter. He struggled, was persecuted, mocked, and born to die for people that would fail to appreciate that everyday, and I am humbled. He definitely knew no “comfort zone”. His comfort wasn’t in material things, what money could buy or His status. No, he was SELFLESS.

Blessings aren’t always in the form of money or things.

Blessings are in our family, that stands by us.

Blessings are in our friends who drop everything to be there for us.

Blessings are in our children and the happiness they bring us.

Blessings are in a beautiful day, or a rainy one.

Blessings are found when your health is attacked, and you feel the love and kindness from those who reach out to support.

Blessings are found in your spouse and the way they love you.

Blessings are your warm bed that just feels like home.

Blessings are in a pantry full of food, and a great meal made with love.

Blessings are found in the job that came at just the right time.

I am not comfortable. And I don’t want to be.

I am blessed, and that is so much more than comfortable.
