Garlic Bread Croutons

Garlic Bread Croutons

Leftover garlic bread? Great! Fresh garlic bread? Great! That’s the beauty of this recipe. Repurpose leftover garlic bread, or start fresh. My kids actually asked me never to buy store bought croutons again. Light, not too crunchy, and full of fresh flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Loaf French bread Sliced an inch thick
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • Parsley To sprinkle on slices
  • 2-4 Tbsp Oil Whatever you have on hand, amount to your liking

Instructions

  1. Slice a 1/2 loaf of French bread into 1 inch slices. Lay each piece flat on to a cookie sheet either lined with foil or a silpat mat.

  2. Place butter into a small bowl.

  3. Mince garlic. Add to bowl of butter. Place in microwave and hear 30 seconds. Just enough time to melt the butter and slightly cook the garlic.

  4. Using a basting brush, baste garlic butter onto each piece of bread. Sprinkle with desired amount of parsley.

  5. Place in an oven preheated to 400.

Bake 15 minutes, or until golden, but not too crunchy.

  6. Remove from oven. Cool until able to handle. On a cutting board, slice into desired size pieces. Place back on same baking sheet. Drizzle with whatever oil you have on hand. I used grape seed oil.

  7. Using your hands, toss pieces until well coated with the oil. Evenly distribute onto cookie sheet. Place back in oven. Cook between 10-20 minutes, until YOUR desired crunchiness.

  8. Remove from oven and place into a bowl for serving.

Recipe Notes

Oil: Use whatever you have on hand. If using olive oil, I recommend light olive oil. This recipe is all about the way you like a crouton to taste. You are in charge of the amount of oil and how long they bake.
